State-owned telecoms operator Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (Nepal Telecom, or NT) booked revenue of NPR8.25 billion (USD102.1 million) in its fiscal first quarter ended 15 October 2011 in line with its own expectations, according to managing director Amar Nath Singh, as quoted by the Himalayan News Service. ‘It is encouraging that the company will be able to meet its revenue target for the year,’ he said, adding that NT is targeting full-year revenue of NPR31 billion and net profit of NPR12 billion, up from last year’s NPR10.77 billion. Further, Nepal Telecom has added a net 500,000 new users in the first four months of its current financial year, including 285,882 subscribers to its GPRS service, spokesperson Surendra Prasad Thike said.
