Royal KPN switches on 500Mbps fibre service

Dutch incumbent Royal KPN has reportedly tweaked its fibre-optic triple-play packages, including the introduction of a symmetrical 500Mbps service to ‘Premium’ subscribers where available on its PSTN. Telecompaper quotes the operator as saying that it has replaced its ‘Bronze’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Gold’ plans with three new packages – ‘Instap’ (EUR55 per month for a maximum 50Mbps downlink/uplink connection), ‘Standaard’ (EUR65 a month, 100Mbps downlink/uplink) and Premium (EUR85 a month, 500Mbps down/up). KPN’s Standaard and Premium packages also include a subscription to online music service Spotify Premium worth EUR10 per month, it said, and the operator is also wooing new subscribers by offering all the new packages at EUR45 per month for the first three months
