New telecoms law to be developed this year

The government of Uruguay will begin drafting a new telecommunications law this year to update and replace the current outmoded regulatory framework, local newspaper El Observador reports, citing Ministry of Industry sub-secretary, Edgardo Ortuno. The new legislation will regulate basic fixed and mobile telephony, as well as internet access and data transmission.
