Peoples Telephone Cooperative makes switch to LTE from WiMAX

Peoples Telephone Cooperative has launched Long Term Evolution (LTE) services in rural Texas under an agreement with the NetAmerica Alliance, after replacing its fixed WiMAX service with LTE operating in the 700MHz band. Cellular News reports that NetAmerica Alliance's UniPort Home Gateway offers both wired Ethernet and Wi-Fi within the home while connecting to wireless broadband services on Peoples' newly deployed LTE network. NetAmerica Alliance is an alliance of independent carriers who have joined forces to build out 4G LTE services in the carriers' regional licence coverage areas
