Ghana’s telecoms regulator, the National Communications Authority (NCA), has announced that 3 March 2012 will be the deadline for the de-activation of unregistered mobile SIM cards. The SIM card registration scheme initially came into effect in July 2010 and was due to run until the end of June the following year, at which time all mobile users would be required to have registered their SIM card.
