Zimbabwean ISP Aquiva Wireless will become the latest company to launch voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony under an Internet Access Provider (IAP) licence in April, reports TechZim. According to the local technology journal, the VoIP service will be accessible via any broadband internet connection – akin to the recently launched service by mobile operator Econet – and users could be on laptops/PCs or Wi-Fi-enabled mobile devices including smartphones and tablets. Call tariffs are expected to be in line with the regulator-approved charges of VoIP operators Africom, Brodacom, Telco and Gigatel, generally USD0.05 per minute on-net and USD0.11 off-net.
