ICASA bows to operator pressure; postpones 800MHz, 2.6GHz spectrum auction until further notice

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has postponed the licensing of spectrum suitable for Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile services, after the country’s main players successfully argued that its draft spectrum assignment plan was released prematurely. The brief press statement issued by the watchdog reads: ‘The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa hereby postpones the licensing of High Demand Spectrum until further notice
