The Croatian Agency for Post and Electronic Communications (HAKOM) has confirmed that it will hold an auction for wireless frequency licences in the ‘digital dividend’ (790MHz-860MHz) band in the second half of 2012, which are earmarked for the nationwide expansion of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband networks. The telecoms regulator told SeeNews that the spectrum being freed up in the switchover from analogue to digital terrestrial TV broadcasting will be distributed among existing mobile operators to raise ‘several hundred millions of kuna’ (HRK100 million = USD17.5 million)
