Brazilian communications service provider Algar Telecom has reported (gross) revenue of BRL577.8 million (USD285.2 million) and net income of BRL449.2 million in the April-June 2012 quarter, a gain of 7.8% and 6.6% compared to 2Q11, respectively. The carrier said it added a net 318,000 revenue generating units (RGUs) in the second quarter, for a total of 2.2 million, up 17.2% when compared to 2Q11. Fixed line users were also up 19.2% year-on-year to 1.005 million, it said.
