The total number of fixed telephony connections in the Netherlands climbed by a net 47,000 lines in the second quarter of this year, to 6.08 million, according to Telecompaper. The strong upward surge is being driven by consumer voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) subscriptions, which increased by 2.5% to 4.56 million, negating a 4.9% decline in PSTN/ISDN lines to 1.23 million.
