Ad agency attracts controversy for using homeless people as Wi-Fi hotspots at SXSW

According to US website Pitchfork.com, advertising agency BBH has caused a stir at the annual SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas by introducing an initiative whereby 13 homeless people have been equipped with compact ‘Mi-Fi’ wireless routers and situated at strategic points around the city to enable festival-goers to access the internet. Wireless device users can the make a donation in cash to the homeless person in question, or transfer funds via PayPal. Controversially, the participating homeless people are all wearing shirts emblazoned with the phrase ‘I am a 4G hotspot’.
