In order to meet the growing demand for video and broadband services, German cable company Kabel Deutschland has selected Cisco to supply its Cisco CRS-3 platform to upgrade the operator’s internet protocol next generation network (IP NGN) core. The solution is designed to enable the cableco to optimise its network resources, reduce costs and provide a better application experience by integrating the IP NGN infrastructure with cloud computing services. It utilises the modular Cisco IOS XR software operating system, which simplifies network operations while enabling comprehensive system redundancy and network resiliency
