Airtel launches HSPA+ nationwide

Indian-backed cellco Airtel Uganda has announced the launch of a nationwide ‘3.75G’ HSPA+ network. The new platform is capable of providing theoretical maximum download speeds of 21Mbps, and is available in more than 30 towns and cities, with another nine due to come online soon. At launch, the network consisted of 325 base stations, though the operator plans for that number to exceed 400 shortly.
