Telecom Argentina selects Prysmian for FTTH network rollout

Cable manufacturer Prysmian Group has announced it has been awarded a contract by Telecom Argentina to supply and install an optical network that will provide the passive infrastructure for the first part of the telco’s new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network. In response to growing consumer demand for faster internet, Telecom Argentina is expanding its broadband services by deploying a FTTH network utilising GPON technology, with network rollout focused mainly on the city of Buenos Aires. Under the contract, Prysmian Group will build a network serving 4,000 homes; work will start immediately and will continue over a two-year period, during which time Telecom Argentina will continue to formulate the next stages of its broadband rollout.
