TeliaSonera boosts presence in Kazakhstan

TeliaSonera has announced a deal to acquire the WiMAX operations of Alem Communications in Kazakhstan for USD170 million. The Swedish company will obtain a WiMAX network in six major cities along with frequencies in the 2.5GHz-2.6GHz band, which could be used in the future for 4G mobile broadband services based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology.
